JOYFUL MYSTERIES
The Joyful Mysteries contemplate God’s love revealed in the birth and childhood of Jesus.
Through Mary’s faith and obedience, they lead us into the joy of salvation revealed in these five mysteries.
FIRST MYSTERY
The Annunciation
Luke 1:38
We contemplate Mary’s faith and obedience as she freely accepts the will of the Lord.
SECOND MYSTERY
The Visitation
Luke 1:39–45
We contemplate Mary, carrying Jesus within her, visiting Elizabeth and serving her with love.
THIRD MYSTERY
The Nativity
Luke 2:1–20
We contemplate Jesus being born in a humble manger in Bethlehem and bringing the joy of salvation to the world.
FOURTH MYSTERY
The Presentation in the Temple
Luke 2:22–35
We contemplate Mary and Saint Joseph presenting the child Jesus in the Temple in obedience to God’s will.
FIFTH MYSTERY
The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
Luke 2:41–52
We contemplate Mary and Saint Joseph finding Jesus in the Temple after searching for him for three days.
